SLTD on America's Got Talent!
June 29th 2009 - Hey there!

You may be wondering what ever happened with our band on America’s Got Talent. Well, with the Chicago auditions officially airing this past week, we can finally “let the cat out of the bag.” We made it past the first two auditions to the final round in Chicago, but later got “X’ed” by the celebrity judges. For some reason, they seem to have a bias against
parents being in the band. Piers Morgan said we looked like The Jonas Brothers with grandma and grandpa. I can’t say we were surprised by their
rudeness, but we were disappointed that they judged us by our age and not our ability.

They did give the boys a ’20 second chance’ to play something on their own, but unfortunately, they could only play pre-approved songs. They
tried to play “Sweet Home Alabama,” but that ended up being a disaster because Ryan’s guitar was in a different tuning, and there was no time to re-tune. Needless to say, it was a disappointing audition!

In spite of the end results, we did have a fun time. It was certainly a learning experience for all of us. After being in that world for a short time, we know for sure we would only pursue the entertainment business if we were convinced it was God’s plan for our family. That has been our desire all along, but I think our time with AGT helped confirmed that in
our hearts. Thanks so much for praying for us and cheering us on in the process.

In the meantime, the boys’ CD is almost finished! What they have so far sounds amazing. We still have a lot of details to take care of before it comes out in mid-July, and Bruce is working hard on scheduling concerts for the fall. It looks like the boys are going to have some great opportunities to encourage their generation to take a stand for their faith
and to make their faith their own. God has been doing some incredible things in their hearts this summer! We’ll share more of those details
later, but let’s just say our prayers for them are definitely being answered in God’s timing.

When you get a chance, check out their songs on myspace. Here’s the link:

You’re a blessing!
